I’ve been noticing that there are some people who have a vacant look in their eyes and seem to be a bit distant. Is this a sign of mental illness or drug abuse? What type of mental illness would it be?

People who are borked out of their mind on drugs can have a vacant look. Some antipsychotic medications can cause a person to have a vacant look. Any mental illness that causes a person to lose touch with reality can cause a vacant look, like schizophrenia. And some people can have a vacant look in their eyes simply because they are wrapped up in their own thoughts and not paying attention to what’s going on around them.
