Yes, but nowhere near the levels of experimentation and abuse today. The knowledge we have today about negative effects on the body and mind was not available during the 1960’s, so many users of, say cocaine and marijuana, did not view them as “illegal” drugs. They were substances that increased happiness and creativity in the boring Ontario suburbs.
