If You Have ANY Connections to Journalism, or the Media PLEASE Read This.?
Question by : If you have ANY connections to journalism, or the media PLEASE read this.?
I know this is a shot in the dark, but maybe something good will come out of this. If you have any connection to the media and could get this story into a magazine/newspaper/blog/tv/news show i hope you’ll consider it. Even if you can’t do that, please spread this around.
You can read the full story and different articles about it at

But if you want a summary – i’ve been friends with this family for two years. They were living in virginia in a house with abusive parents who were involved with drug and alcohol addiction. They were rescued from their terrible situation by their half sister Stephanie, age 24. The kids are Wes, age 14, Connor, age 12, and Tavvi age 9. Recently Tavvi and Connor were kidnapped by virginia DHS. Tavvi was snatched from her school, kicking and screaming. Connor was taken from his house with no warning. Neither of them got to say goodbye.
This is really a tragedy, and needs all the media coverage it can get. If you have any ideas or can help in any way please email [email protected]
And again – i know you don’t know these people personally, but if you had some way to help, it could potentially make all the difference.
Thanks.
If you don’t have any connection to the media, you could post this story on any blog or website you have, or forward it as an email.
quote from stephanie: “I cannot begin to explain what we are going through right now. The fear, the panic, the anger, and the terror. Connor and Tavvi wish to refuse to leave with any and all effort that they can. What we are doing is reaching out for is support.”
here are links to the letters connor and tavvi wrote.

Yes I do have connections to the media, but they probably wouldn’t directly benefit you, so I’ll give you some broader tips.
First of all, names of minors are hardly ever released, as far as I know they are only released in abductions, and since this is a government organization that may not count. I sincerely hope you changed their names before posting this because its a violation of privacy otherwise.
Second, research Virgina DHS. I did a brief google search and found a few stories that sounded similar to yours. This will help you in step #3.
Third, the best way to get attention is to seek it out, like you are doing, but you are looking in the wrong places. Call the local television, radio, newspapers in your area. Tell them the story and say you are trying to raise public awareness.
When you talk to the media, first voice your concerns. But also mention that you have found other related cases or similar events. When you’re on the phone ask for an email contact, if you have any information to forward onto them. You should summarize what you told them over the phone, include pictures of the children (but then it is their discretion whether or not they use it, so make sure you have the guardian’s approval), and also provide links to any other similar cases you’ve found.
If they’re interested they will most likely want to meet with you. If you want to appear credible (and improve your chance of going to air/getting published) make sure you are dressed well, clean cut, polite. Don’t use colloquial language or swear. They need to believe that you’re honest and intelligent, otherwise your credibility is reduced and the story is less appealing to go to air.
/on a sidenote I looked at the website. The letters do not sound like they were written by children, but rather sound like propaganda, to be entirely honest. Again, it will be more believable if you have the actual physical letters that [I’m assuming] they handwrote.
