No. It is their job to diagnose you and to treat you in any way possible. It is a good thing to mention to your doctor if you had recently consumed or used any form of alcohol or drug to help with diagnosis, but they legally cannot turn you in as it is part of their doctor-patient confidentiality guidelines.
Worst-case scenario: they offer or require rehab/therapy.

Caroline was supported in her recovery by 1) The East Riding Partnership, a service which ADS delivers in partnership with Humber NHS Foundation Trust; and 2) by the East Riding Alcohol Aftercare Service, which is delivered by ADS. Caroline says: “If somebody out there now is still using or drinking, you can get your life back. It’s hard in recovery but it’s better than being picked up from the gutter. And you can do it. I did.” If you have been affected by the issues raised in Caroline’s Story, call our confidential helpline on 01482 320 606. Or visit www.ads-uk.org
