“1)What are some factors that can put a person st risk for alcohol addiction?”
Recent studies have pointed to genetics as a key factor in alcoholism. Additionally, your environment is very important; people with less supportive families will be more susceptible to addiction, exponentially so if one of your parents is an alcoholic.
“2) What life events can lead to this addiction?”
Anything that dramatically changes your outlook on life, pretty much. Death in the family, the suicide of a close friend, even home foreclosure: all of these can be contributing factors.
Additionally, alcoholism can be brought on by more gradual change. One’s upbringing, for example.
“3) What are some factors that can lead to their recovery?”
The key word here is support. Friends, family, and possible rehabilitative therapy. People without a close circle of support are at risk of falling through the cracks.
