Drug Addiction Newspaper Articles: Drug Addiction – a Looming Catastrophe

Today, hundreds of thousands of youths across the world are taking drugs on large scale which could send shivers down the veins of the society. They are creating various kinds of indiscipline and instability in the running society. So, in near future the world will face a catastrophe if the alarming drug abuse is not effectively checked through extensive motivation and prevention.

Sometimes, groups of young generation having slender physiques are seen sitting beside the street or in the parks. At first they use drugs just for fun but with the passage of time they become addicted to it. Real life seems to be boring to them because they are not enlightened or rich in this society. On the contrary, real life becomes more pleasurable to them at the time of taking drugs.

Escapism is another cause of taking drug. Sometimes people are deprived of the family or the society and then they loss their interest to live on this earth. They are distressed and disheartened. So, to escape from the pain of their life, they begin to use drug. In the world of drug all the things are good to them. Especially, heroine makes a man dreamy where no things are bad. Yet it is the most appealing and dangerous drug to all addicts.

In most of the cases it is seen that majority of addicts belong to the lower class. They can hardly income for their family and own and even they starve one or two days at a stretch. So how painful it is that is not described. In this case, being depressed they become addicted fully voluntarily. Nobody encourages or forces them. They are illiterate and their family members do not think without even a single piece of bread to live on this universe. They wear torn dresses and cloths. They take most unhygienic food and live in unhygienic condition. They cannot think even a comfortable life. In most of cases, they can’t meet to necessary things in their life.

Not only lower classes people but also the members of high society become addicted too. In maximum cases they use drug because of not having love from their expected persons. The people of high class of the society keep always themselves involved in their personal business or affair. They don’t think even their son or daughters what are they doing, where are they going etc. Sometimes it is also seen that the seniors of the family are taking drugs in front of their sons or daughters. They think it a fashion. As a result their sons are being addicted to drug easily.

So, to get rid of drug addiction, the following suggestions deserve special attention:
* personal will of the abusers is the main way to get rid of addiction which require motivation.
* More employment opportunities must be created as unemployment is a main cause of drug addiction.
* Youths should be encouraged to avoid mixing with bad company.
* Articles should be enacted on anti-drug issues in the text books and newspapers.
* Civil society should play effective role to campaign against drugs. Here media campaign against drugs is important to make the people concerned about the matter. Govt. and different organizations should undertake programmes to ensure proper treatment and rehabilitation of drug abusers.

Above discussion made it clear that there are reasons to be concerned about the looming threat of drug abuse. The entire nation is now at stake due to drug abuse.
